English Language + Literacy and LearningWorks After School Program Intern, LearningWorks Non-profit Organization, Portland, ME Aug. 2018-Present

• Assistant teacher of beginner-level adult English as a second language class.
• Plan and execute lessons and activities based on both whole class and individual needs.
• Identified the Student Oral Language Observation Matrix (SOLOM) as the new form of assessment to be implemented in
the EL+LP program at LearningWorks.
• Serve as the “traveling librarian” visiting all 11 LearningWorks After School Programs.
• Utilize the book set “I’m Your Neighbor” and conduct activities to teach and start discussions about diversity and
inclusion.

• Assisted in seven different classroom environments at Biddeford School District working with students in kindergarten,
first grade, third grade, fourth-fifth and high school age levels.

• Hosted and and staffed events across campus.

Long-term Substitute Teacher, John F. Kennedy Memorial School, Biddeford, ME. Oct.-Dec. 2017
• Taught up to 20 hours per week in kindergarten English Language Learner (ELL) classroom, instructing 12 students in
small group lessons and activities.
• Developed cultural awareness skills and learned how to adapt teaching style to meet students’ needs; developed ability
to use visuals and other strategies to engage students.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:

• Dedicated weekly volunteer at the Boys & Girls club of Portland to play games and assist students with homework.
• Attend Portland Public School District Board of Education meetings to keep up to date with policies and changes within
the community.
• Member of the former UNE Love Your Melon Club where I conducted and attended home visits to children battling
cancer.
• Created and ran fundraiser at UNE benefiting the victims and families of the Parkland Florida Shooting.
